Job Summary

This role is part of the 'LogChain' project at TU Dresden, focusing on the implementation of blockchain technology to digitize and secure timber logistics process chains. As a Research Associate, you will analyze workflows from the standing tree to the factory gate, developing practical concepts for the logical traceability of wood products. Your daily work involves linking real-world harvesting and machine data with satellite data for precise documentation of forestry transactions. You will also conduct field trials and evaluate the efficiency and ecology of digital logistics chains. This position is ideal for those passionate about the intersection of nature, technology, and digitalization. It offers the chance to act as a bridge between research and practical forestry, collaborating closely with forest enterprises and machine manufacturers. The role is based in Tharandt and offers the infrastructure of an Excellence University, including flexible working hours and mobile work options.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Forestry, Wood Science, Environmental Sciences, Geoinformatics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in forestry operations and timber logistics
  • Experience in data processing and at least one scripting language
  • Professional experience in process management is desired
  • Experience in conducting field trials and forest-based experiments
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration between research and industry
