Job Summary

This role is based at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) within a Junior Research Group funded by an ERC Starting Grant. The successful candidate will support the 'OTOREG' project, which investigates how axolotls regenerate gravity-sensing biocrystals in the inner ear. Day-to-day responsibilities include laboratory organization, inventory management, and equipment maintenance, alongside hands-on experimental work such as molecular biology techniques, genotyping, and animal surgery. You will also play a key role in establishing the lab culture and organizational systems of a budding research group. This position is particularly attractive for those who enjoy a mix of administrative oversight and high-level technical research support. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), or Laboratory Technician with equivalent knowledge.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA) or Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA)
  • Professional experience in molecular biology and sequencing techniques
  • Experience with animal models (axolotl experience is highly advantageous)
  • Experience in laboratory organization, ordering, and equipment management
  • Experience in training and advising lab members on experimental procedures

Additional

  • FELASA or equivalent animal experiment qualification is desirable. The role involves occasional weekend animal checks and feeding. The position is initially limited to 36 months.
