Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) is seeking a Scientific Project Researcher to join the Marine Chemistry department for the 'AWESOME' project. In this role, you will work with Biogeochemical Argo (BGC-Argo) profiling floats, specifically focusing on integrating and characterizing new sensors for dissolved organic matter (FDOM) and phosphate. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting laboratory and field experiments, performing data processing and quality control using Python or Matlab, and participating in research cruises for sensor validation. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to global ocean observing systems and improve the understanding of biogeochemical cycles in the Baltic Sea. The role is attractive for its interdisciplinary nature, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to work at a leading research institution with modern laboratory infrastructure and its own research vessel.
