Job Summary
As a Laboratory Technical Assistant within the Next Generation Sequencing Core Facility at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), you will play a vital role in cutting-edge cancer research. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve the manual and automated preparation of DNA/RNA libraries for high-throughput sequencing using state-of-the-art Illumina and Oxford Nanopore systems. You will perform critical quality control checks, operate liquid-handling robots, and maintain detailed documentation under accredited laboratory conditions. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or Biology Laboratory Technician.
Experience
- Professional experience in a laboratory environment (role is open to entry-level candidates)
- Experience in molecular biology techniques and high-throughput sequencing
- Experience working under accredited standards (ISO 17025) or strict SOPs is preferred
- Experience in operating automated laboratory equipment and pipetting robots
Languages
Additional
- Must provide proof of immunity against measles as per the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Position is initially fixed-term for 2 years with potential for extension. Open to full-time or part-time arrangements.
