Job Summary

This full-time, permanent position at the University of Potsdam involves the technical management and development of advanced experimental physics equipment within the Condensed Matter Physics department. You will be responsible for the independent design, construction, and assembly of mechanical components for Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) low-temperature Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM). Key daily tasks include operating high-vacuum evaporation and sputtering systems, managing helium recovery plants, and developing processes for nanostructure fabrication using electron beam lithography. The role is highly technical, requiring the selection of materials suitable for cryogenic temperatures and high magnetic fields. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys bridging the gap between hardware development and scientific research.
