Job Summary

The German Weather Service (DWD) is seeking a Service Technician specializing in Electrical Engineering or Communications Technology to maintain its remote sensing systems, particularly weather radar facilities, radiosonde stations, wind profilers, and wind shear measurement systems. This role involves active participation in installation planning, independently performing technical repairs, maintenance, installations, testing, and calibration. The ideal candidate will have a background as a certified technician or relevant vocational training in electrical or communications technology, be a qualified electrician, and possess the physical aptitude for demanding tasks, including working at heights. The position requires a driver's license, willingness to travel for business, and participation in an on-call system. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Hamburg-Sasel, offering the opportunity to contribute to a critical national service.

Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician in Electrical Engineering or Communications Technology OR relevant vocational training in Electrical Engineering/Communications Technology

Experience

  • Professional experience in technical installations, maintenance, testing, and calibration of complex systems
  • Experience with C-Band weather radar systems, radiosonde stations, wind profilers, and wind shear measurement systems (desirable)
