This full-time postdoctoral position at the Institute for Materials involves the further development and application of advanced sputtering techniques, specifically High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS/HPPMS) and in situ plasma diagnostics. The successful candidate will work within the Chair of Materials Discovery and Interfaces, utilizing nine combinatorial sputtering systems to synthesize multifunctional thin-film material libraries. Day-to-day responsibilities include experimental work in a clean room environment, high-throughput characterization using tools like XRD and XPS, and the implementation of advanced diagnostics such as Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES). A unique aspect of this role is the focus on transitioning combinatorial fabrication toward semi-autonomous coating processes.
