Job Summary

As a Technical Research Assistant at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), you will play a vital role in the 'Spectroscopy and Geochemical Analytics' department. Your daily responsibilities will involve performing geoscientific analysis using Raman spectroscopy and chromatographic methods (HPLC/GC-MS). You will be responsible for the technical maintenance, calibration, and care of high-end analytical equipment, including microscope-coupled Raman spectroscopes. Key tasks include sample preparation for geochemical and geomicrobiological studies, method development, and rigorous quality assurance through data evaluation and documentation. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in instrumental analytics who enjoys working in a laboratory environment. The role offers an attractive compensation package up to E10 TVöD, including potential specialist allowances of up to 1,500 Euro per month, 30 days of vacation, and flexible working models within a prestigious federal advisory institution.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in a natural science or technical field with a focus on chemical and/or physical analysis (e.g., Engineering), or an equivalent qualification with a technical focus.

Experience

  • Professional experience in chemical-physical analytical procedures
  • Practical experience in independent laboratory work within a chemical-analytical setting
  • Experience in the use of chromatographic methods and spectroscopic analysis
  • Professional experience within a federal authority or departmental research institution is preferred
