As a Research Data Infrastructure Engineer at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA). Your daily responsibilities include managing Kubernetes deployments across internal and commercial cloud environments, developing FastAPI-based microservices, and ensuring secure data exchange through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Pulumi and Helm. Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field; alternatively a Bachelor’s degree with several years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Proven experience in DevOps and cloud infrastructure management using Kubernetes
  • Professional experience with administration and containerization of Linux systems
  • Professional experience with Infrastructure as Code and Kubernetes deployment tools
  • Several years of relevant professional experience required if holding a Bachelor's degree
  • Experience or strong interest in microservices design patterns and domain-driven design
  • Experience with federated identity and access management systems

Additional

  • Proof of immunity against measles is required per the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). The position is initially limited to a 2-year contract with the possibility of extension. Location involves the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) network.
