Job Summary

As the Head of the Digitalization and IT Department for the City of Pforzheim, you will lead a team of approximately 65 employees in shaping a smart, connected city. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve the strategic management of the city's hardware and software landscape, including its own data center, while proactively driving digitalization projects to modernize public services. You will act as a key advisor to the Mayor and City Council, using data from the municipal statistics office to support decision-making. This role is unique for its high level of strategic influence over a major regional employer and the opportunity to lead large-scale Smart City initiatives. The position offers a secure, permanent contract with high-level public service pay (up to E15 TVöD) and a strong focus on work-life balance through mobile working and flexible hours.

Required Skills

Education

Completed academic university degree (Master's level) in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, IT/Digitalization, or alternatively in Law or Administrative Sciences with specialized IT knowledge.

Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience with a modern, motivating, and goal-oriented management style
  • Proven track record in (IT) project management
  • Professional experience in IT management and governance
  • Experience in representing organizational interests to authorities, political bodies, and the public
