Job Summary

This part-time (70%) Research Associate position is based at the Senckenberg Institute for Plant Biodiversity in Jena, specifically within the 'HerbaTour' Synthesis & Solutions Lab. The successful candidate will transform the Haussknecht Herbarium into an active, open archive by synthesizing historical botanical knowledge with local narratives and citizen science. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing participatory digital formats to promote species knowledge, conducting stakeholder analyses to build a local Citizen Science community, and organizing transdisciplinary workshops. You will also communicate findings at international conferences and in scientific journals. This role is ideal for a biologist with strong botanical knowledge and a passion for public engagement. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant biological subject.

Experience

  • Professional experience in biodiversity research and local flora identification
  • Experience in knowledge transfer and communicating science to diverse target groups
  • Experience in planning, managing, and administering educational events
  • Experience in Citizen Science projects is highly desirable
  • Experience in using social media for public relations and outreach
  • Experience in project management and transdisciplinary collaboration
