Job Summary

This role involves conducting high-level research for the CONMAR-Habitat project, focusing on the spatio-temporal variability of benthic communities in the North and Baltic Seas. As a researcher, you will participate in several multi-week research cruises annually to collect samples and perform taxonomic identification of marine benthic infauna and epifauna. Your day-to-day work includes multivariate statistical analysis of environmental datasets, georeferencing ecological data using GIS, and developing species distribution models. You will be responsible for publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and collaborating within the interdisciplinary CONMAR consortium. This position is particularly attractive for scientists seeking to work at a world-leading institution like Senckenberg, offering a dynamic international network, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to contribute to critical marine remediation research. The role is based in Wilhelmshaven, a location known for its proximity to major marine research hubs and natural recreational value.
