Job Summary

This role involves leading and executing archaeogenetic research projects within the Senckenberg Centre for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment (SHEP) in Tübingen. The successful candidate will focus on analyzing historical human DNA from pre-Columbian American populations, developing computational pipelines for large genomic datasets, and coordinating data generation from sequencing to quality control. A significant portion of the role includes conducting fieldwork in collaboration with indigenous communities, requiring high ethical standards and intercultural sensitivity. Beyond research, you will be responsible for publishing in international journals and securing third-party funding to ensure project longevity. Required Skills

Education

PhD in Genetics or a closely related scientific field

Experience

  • Completed PhD in Genetics or a related field
  • Extensive professional experience in population genetic analysis of modern and prehistoric indigenous American populations
  • Proven expertise in conducting fieldwork and collaborating with local indigenous communities
  • Professional experience in generating and managing large genomic datasets (sequencing and quality control)
  • Strong track record of high-quality publications in international peer-reviewed journals
