Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to support the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) within the 'P20' program—the largest IT modernization and harmonization project for the German police forces. You will take professional responsibility for budget planning and supplier management, ensuring the efficient financial steering of this complex digital transformation. Day-to-day, you will lead budget preparation processes, advise program leadership on strategic financial matters, and coordinate tasks within an agile multi-project environment. Furthermore, you will draft contracts and cooperation agreements while managing external service providers. This position is particularly attractive for those seeking to work at the highest federal level (BMI) in Berlin, offering a meaningful contribution to national security and insights into the entire German police landscape. The role is fixed-term until December 31, 2028, and includes a ministerial allowance.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master, Magister, or Diploma) in Administrative Sciences, Economics with a focus on Finance, or a comparable scientific field of study.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in a related field
  • Professional experience in federal budget law and fund management
  • Experience in managing and controlling external service providers

  • The position is based in Berlin via secondment until 31.12.2028. Applicants must consent to a security clearance according to § 8 SÜG. Willingness for occasional domestic travel (rarely exceeding three days) is required. Candidates must not already be in a civil service grade higher than A13g unless applying for secondment from existing federal roles (A13h to A14).
