This leadership role at University Medicine Essen involves overseeing the strategic procurement for a massive healthcare network including 15 subsidiaries and a portfolio of 4,000 medical and non-medical items. As the Head of Strategic Procurement, you will lead a team of five professionals, managing an annual purchasing volume exceeding €100 million. Your day-to-day will involve developing procurement strategies, identifying cost-saving potentials, and managing high-stakes portfolios in specialized medical fields like cardiology and cardiac surgery. You will be responsible for supplier qualification, contract negotiations, and ensuring compliance with public procurement law. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Multiple years of professional experience in strategic procurement within a hospital environment, ideally in large-scale medical centers or university clinics
  • Several years of experience in disciplinary and functional team leadership
  • Proven track record in managing high-volume purchasing budgets (> €100 million)
  • Experience in navigating public procurement law and medical device regulations
  • Extensive experience with SAP MM systems
