Job Summary
This role at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) involves supporting the Pediatric Glioma Research department in characterizing and modeling rare brain tumors. As a Technical Assistant, you will work within an international team of scientists, postdocs, and doctoral students to bridge the gap between basic biology and clinical application. Your daily responsibilities will include conducting in vivo mouse model experiments, managing in vitro tumor cell lines, and performing sophisticated molecular biology techniques such as NGS, PCR, and protein biochemistry. Beyond the bench, you will handle vital laboratory organization, including inventory management and safety compliance. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA) or Biological Technical Assistant (BTA).
Experience
- Professional experience in in vivo laboratory work and preclinical research
- Practical experience in histological methods including tissue embedding and staining
- Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques and protein biochemistry
- Experience in laboratory administration, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment
- Experience working within an international scientific research environment
Languages
Additional
- Must provide proof of immunity against measles (Infection Protection Act). Position is initially limited to 2 years with potential for extension. Willingness to work with mouse models is essential.
