Job Summary

In this role within the R&D department of Process Technologies and Material Science at Roche, you will join a specialized team of 5–6 professionals developing chemical raw materials for the global diagnostic product portfolio. Your day-to-day work involves the independent planning and execution of organic-preparative syntheses, specifically focusing on polymers and their precursors. You will be responsible for the isolation, purification, and characterization of reagents using advanced analytical methods such as GPC, NMR, and UV. A significant part of the role includes process optimization and scaling established syntheses for production transfer. This position is particularly attractive for scientists who enjoy solving complex chemical problems in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment. You will contribute directly to the development of life-saving diagnostics while working for a global leader in healthcare. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Chemistry, ideally with a focus on Polymer Chemistry or Macromolecular Chemistry, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in preparative organic synthesis
  • Practical experience in the synthesis and handling of functionalized polymers
  • Experience in the isolation and purification of chemical reagents
  • Experience with characterization methods for macromolecular structures
  • Experience in creating process instructions and documenting scientific results
