Job Summary

Join the Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology (HI-TRON) in Mainz as a Technical Assistant, contributing to cutting-edge cancer research. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing single-cell phenotyping assays, particularly in high-parameter spectral flow cytometry. Your day-to-day will involve processing clinical samples, operating advanced flow cytometry equipment like the BD FACSAria Fusion Cell Sorter and Cytek Aurora 5L Spectral Cytometer, and supporting scientists with cell sorting. This position requires a background as a Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA) or similar, with practical experience in fluorescence flow cytometry and familiarity with tissue processing and cell culture techniques. You'll contribute to inventory management and ensure precise documentation, working in a collaborative, research-focused academic environment dedicated to developing innovative immunotherapies and biomarkers.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA), Biology Laboratory Technician, or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Practical experience in fluorescence flow cytometry and/or experience in a flow cytometry core facility (desirable)
  • Familiarity with tissue processing, cell isolation, fluorescence cell staining, or cell culture techniques
  • Experience in reagent management
  • Willingness to learn equipment maintenance and laboratory procedures
  • Experience with GLP or GMP standards (desirable)
