Job Summary

As a Gigabit Coordinator for the City of Aachen, you will lead the strategic expansion of high-speed fiber-optic infrastructure across the urban area. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve coordinating the 'Grey Spots' federal funding program, managing planning and procurement processes, and negotiating with telecommunications providers to drive network development. You will act as a central interface between administration, politics, and industry, presenting strategies to public committees and monitoring the funding landscape for new project opportunities. This role is unique because it combines high-level strategic planning with technical project management in one of Germany's most innovative scientific and industrial hubs. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or Geography; or qualification for the higher administrative service (Laufbahngruppe 2, 1. Einstiegsamt / Verwaltungslehrgang II).

Experience

  • Professional experience in the strategic and operational implementation of fiber-optic network expansion
  • Experience in managing public funding programs and understanding relevant funding guidelines
  • Proven track record in negotiation and communication with telecommunications providers and political stakeholders
  • Experience in conceptualizing and organizing complex technical projects within a public or corporate framework
  • Familiarity with the regional scientific and corporate landscape in Aachen is preferred

  • The role requires the ability to present technical information to public committees and the press. Location is based in Aachen with options for mobile work. Applicants must be able to work within the TVöD (Public Service Wage Agreement) framework up to pay grade E12.
