Job Summary
The Federal Institute for Hydrology (BfG) is seeking a dedicated IT Systems Administrator to join a newly formed team focused on expanding Artificial Intelligence capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical foundation of innovative AI applications, providing the necessary IT infrastructure for development and secure operations. You will work closely with scientific staff and external partners like the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) on projects involving image recognition, time series analysis, and generative AI. Your day-to-day tasks involve managing a modern, high-performance platform environment where research and development can thrive. Required Skills
Education
University degree (FH-Diploma/Bachelor) in Computer Science or a comparable qualification demonstrated through many years of relevant professional experience in IT administration.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT administration or a relevant academic background
- Practical experience in the administration of Linux-based systems
- Experience in building and operating container and orchestration environments
- Familiarity with the technical integration of AI tools and frameworks into existing infrastructure
- Experience working in collaborative team environments with a hands-on mentality

- Willingness to undertake occasional multi-day business trips is required. Applicants with foreign degrees must provide proof of recognition from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). Location: Koblenz, Germany. Contract duration: 4 years.
