This full-time, permanent position within the Göttingen District Administration's Nature Conservation Department focuses on the protection of species, habitats, and Natura 2000 (FFH) sites. You will be responsible for processing technical statements for third-party projects, defining mitigation and compensation measures, and conducting environmental impact assessments. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring compensation measures, managing invasive species, and performing small-scale mapping of flora and fauna. A significant portion of the role involves technical consulting, public relations, and data management using QGIS. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Biology, Biodiversity, Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Landscape Ecology, or a comparable field with a focus on nature conservation.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in species conservation tasks, ideally within nature conservation administration or planning offices
  • Professional experience in flora recording, including species identification and biotope mapping
  • Professional experience in fauna recording, specifically regarding birds, amphibians, butterflies, and mammals
  • Experience in calculating and determining ecological compensation payments and monitoring measures
