Job Summary
As a Maintenance Coordinator at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliant operation of safety-related technical systems across the GSI and FAIR campus. Your daily responsibilities include planning and organizing preventive maintenance and inspection schedules for fire alarm systems, emergency radio systems, safety lighting, and extinguishing systems. You will act as a key liaison, managing external service providers, conducting quality controls, and performing root cause analyses for malfunctions. The role involves building an efficient spare parts management system and ensuring strict adherence to legal, fire, and environmental safety regulations. This position is ideal for a technical professional who enjoys a mix of operational coordination and process optimization within a world-class international research environment. You will work closely with production and management teams to implement Lean Maintenance and TPM strategies, contributing to one of the largest scientific research projects globally.
Required Skills
Education
Technical training (Mechatronics Technician, Industrial Mechanic, or Electrician) with further qualification as a Master Craftsman/Technician; alternatively, a degree in Industrial Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in industrial maintenance, ideally within a production environment
- Proven experience in managing and coordinating external maintenance service providers
- Practical experience with safety-related technical systems and regulatory compliance
- Experience in applying analytical methods for fault diagnosis and process improvement
Languages
Additional
- The position is located in Darmstadt. Candidates must be able to work in a highly technical research environment. Compliance with statutory fire and environmental protection regulations is a mandatory requirement.
