Job Summary

As a PKI Specialist for the City of Stuttgart's Department of Digitization, Organization, and IT (DO.IT), you will play a critical role in securing the municipal IT infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve planning, operating, and maintaining the Public Key Infrastructure, including the installation and management of CA, sub-CA, CRL, and HSM server instances. You will develop strategies for automated certificate generation, establish trust management guidelines, and ensure comprehensive documentation of the PKI implementation. Beyond routine operations, you will lead threat prevention efforts, conduct forensic analyses of security incidents, and manage backup and recovery processes. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable technical degree; alternatively, a completed IT-specific vocational training with relevant work experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate management
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience required for applicants with vocational training instead of a degree
  • Experience in the administration of Windows Server and Active Directory environments
  • Experience in forensic analysis and root cause determination of information security incidents
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory-based PKI is preferred

  • Requires C1 level German language certification. Open to civil servants in the higher intermediate information technology service (gehobener Dienst). Position is based in Stuttgart with a fixed application deadline of March 29, 2026.
