Job Summary

This role involves maintaining and operating over 950 magnetic power supplies and high-voltage devices at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and the future FAIR facility. As part of the 'Electric Power Systems' department, you will perform routine service, troubleshooting, and commissioning of new systems in a world-class scientific environment. Day-to-day tasks include planning upgrade measures, programming PLC systems, wiring circuit boards, and performing electrical switching for low and medium voltage systems. This position is unique as it offers the chance to work on one of the largest research projects worldwide, supporting international particle accelerator science. You will collaborate with global partners and work within specialized radiation protection and high-voltage areas. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed state-certified technician training (Techniker) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Industrial Electronics, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in maintenance and operation of magnetic power supplies and high-voltage equipment
  • Experience in planning and executing upgrade and shutdown measures in a technical environment
  • Practical experience in commissioning electrical systems and new installations
  • Experience in wiring, testing, and assembling circuit boards
  • Experience in performing electrical switching for low and medium voltage systems
