Job Summary

As an IT Project Lead for the National Firearms Register (NWR) within the Federal Office of Administration, you will lead a dedicated team of five professionals focused on public safety and digital transformation. Your day-to-day responsibilities include the strategic and technical management of the NWR application, overseeing the entire lifecycle from requirement analysis to commissioning. You will act as the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for internal and external stakeholders, coordinating external service providers and managing project budgets. This role is unique as it combines high-level public service responsibility with modern agile workflows like Scrum and Kanban. You will drive the development of complex, high-availability IT systems that are critical to national and international security. The position offers a stable public sector environment with flexible working hours, home office options, and the opportunity for career progression within the German civil service (Beamtenverhältnis).

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Administrative Sciences, or Economics.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in IT software development (for Computer Science degree holders)
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in IT software development and agile methods (for non-CS degree holders)
  • Professional experience in leading a team or functional unit
  • Experience in managing external IT service providers
  • Experience with complex, high-availability IT system landscapes
  • Professional experience in software quality assurance or architecture is preferred
