Job Summary
As the Head of Department for Building Inspection, Environment, and Climate Protection for the City of Hildesheim, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of 31 employees. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve managing the lower-level authorities for building supervision, monument protection, nature conservation, and water management. You will act as a strategic leader, ensuring legally sound and efficient permit processes while coordinating climate protection initiatives across the city administration. This role serves as a vital link between the administration, political committees, and the public, requiring high-level representation and organizational development. The position is unique for its broad cross-sectional impact on urban development and environmental sustainability. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or equivalent in Public Management, Public Administration, Organizational Management, Public Governance, or Municipal Administrative Management. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Sciences combined with municipal leadership experience, or qualification for the second entry level of career group 2 (General Services).
Experience
- Several years of leadership experience required (long-term experience preferred)
- Professional experience in public administration (long-term experience preferred)
- Experience in managing complex administrative permit procedures
- Proven track record in organizational management and strategic goal implementation

Additional
- Availability for meetings in the afternoons and evenings is required. Candidates must meet the requirements for a permanent public service contract (TVöD) or civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis). Location is Hildesheim, Germany.
