Job Summary

This role involves managing a specialized single-cell sequencing laboratory within the 'GreenRobust' Cluster of Excellence at Heidelberg University. As Lab Manager, you will be responsible for performing cutting-edge single-cell combinatorial indexing experiments and standard molecular biology tasks such as RNA/DNA extraction and PCR. A significant portion of the role involves sample preparation from plant materials and the programming and operation of automated liquid handling systems. Beyond technical execution, you will provide essential advisory and training services to visiting scientists and maintain the laboratory's organizational infrastructure, including inventory and instrument maintenance. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to work in a dynamic, international research environment focused on plant robustness and climate resilience. The role offers a long-term perspective until 2032, flexible working models, and the opportunity to learn advanced genomics protocols and basic programming in a highly collaborative academic setting.

Required Skills

Education

Advanced degree from an accredited university or technical school in Molecular Biology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biology or a related scientific discipline
  • Proven practical experience and theoretical knowledge of cell biology methods
  • Experience in basic biochemical laboratory skills including electrophoresis and microscopy
  • Professional experience in laboratory organization and instrument maintenance
