Job Summary

As an OT Security Engineer at TenneT, you will play a pivotal role in the German energy transition by securing critical infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve developing technical security measures and protection mechanisms for communication and substation networks. You will translate regulatory requirements like NIS2 and IEC 62443 into concrete technical specifications, implementing AAA mechanisms, network segmentation, and hardening concepts for high-availability OT environments. Additionally, you will support the entire asset lifecycle by evaluating security requirements for hardware such as switches and firewalls, while participating in penetration tests and vulnerability analyses. This position is particularly attractive due to its focus on CRITIS (Critical Infrastructure) environments and the opportunity to work in a modern, campus-style setting with flexible 37-hour work weeks. You will be part of an international team dedicated to the century-long project of transforming the energy supply system.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in the technical implementation of OT security measures or the operation of industrial networks
  • Proven experience in high-availability environments, ideally within the CRITIS (Critical Infrastructure) sector
  • Practical experience with network and system architectures in the energy utility sector or similar industrial fields
  • Experience in evaluating security requirements for components such as switches, routers, firewalls, and RTUs

Additional

  • Willingness to travel approximately 1-2 days per month to Bayreuth. Location options in Bayreuth or Lehrte (near Hannover). Permanent full-time contract with a 37-hour work week.
