Job Summary

As a Communications Manager specializing in Press and Topic Management at NRW.Energy4Climate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the public narrative around industrial transformation, energy, and climate protection. Based in Düsseldorf, your daily responsibilities include scouting for internal topics, developing strategic communication messages, and drafting high-quality press releases, newsletters, and technical articles. You will serve as a key point of contact for media inquiries, manage press appointments, and maintain relationships with journalists to ensure consistent and impactful media coverage. This role is unique for its focus on the 'Industrial Transformation' priority area, requiring you to translate complex technical subjects into accessible content for diverse audiences. You will collaborate closely within a three-person press team while managing external agencies and service providers. This permanent, part-time position (30 hours/week) offers a future-oriented environment at the climate-neutral EUREF-Campus, featuring flexible working hours and a public service-aligned compensation structure.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Journalism (specifically Science Journalism), Communication Science, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in press and public relations within institutions, companies, or agencies
  • Proven experience in interacting with journalists and managing editorial workflows
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and editing complex content for target audiences
  • Experience in the fields of climate protection and energy, particularly climate-neutral industrial transformation, is preferred
  • Experience working with digital editorial and newsletter management systems
