Job Summary

This role at the University Library of TU Braunschweig involves working within the NFDI4ING consortium to advance engineering research software. You will be responsible for designing and developing data structures and tools for the verification, validation, and benchmarking (VVB) of engineering simulation software. Key tasks include implementing automated workflows using Continuous Integration and containerization (Docker/Apptainer) for High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. Additionally, you will integrate these tools into the NFDI4ING service infrastructure and create training materials to promote FAIR Research Software Engineering principles. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with national and international research software communities (such as de-RSE e.V.) while contributing to innovative projects in a flexible, family-friendly university environment. It is a part-time (50%) position, initially limited to 6 months with an intended extension.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or Diploma) in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the development of scientific software, specifically in numerical simulation or computational engineering
  • Proven experience with version control, continuous integration, and containerization technologies
  • Experience in designing and developing data structures and automated workflows
  • Experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and workload managers like Slurm is preferred
  • Experience in creating and conducting training or workshops for researchers and students
