Job Summary

This role is based within the Microbiological Diagnostics department at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), where you will play a vital part in health monitoring for laboratory animals and environmental samples. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve conducting routine microbiological diagnostics, specifically performing and evaluating bead-based multiplex PCR tests using Luminex technology. You will also manage laboratory databases, optimize existing testing protocols, and participate in animal experimental work. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong interest in pathogen diagnostics who enjoys working in a state-of-the-art research environment. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician (Biologielaborant), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or Veterinary Technical Assistant (VMTA).

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Biological Laboratory Technician (BTA/MTA/VMTA) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in performing and evaluating qPCR and multiplex qPCR assays.
  • Proven experience in method establishment and validation is required.
  • Experience with animal experimental work and a completed FELASA course is preferred.
  • Experience with bacteriological, virological, or serological diagnostic methods is an advantage.

Additional

  • Proof of measles immunity is required per the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). The position is initially limited to 2 years with a possibility of extension. Work is located in Heidelberg, Germany.
