Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a Project Manager for their Biological Safety and Research Security unit in Heidelberg to cover a parental leave period starting April 2026. In this role, you will act as a vital bridge between high-level cancer research and regulatory compliance, supporting over 90 scientific departments. Your daily activities will include planning and coordinating internal biosafety trainings, managing laboratory renovation projects, and digitizing internal processes. You will also maintain online learning platforms and databases while providing operational support for laboratory safety management. This position is particularly attractive for scientific graduates or postdocs looking to transition into science management without leaving the research environment. While deep biosafety expertise is not required initially, you will receive structured on-the-job training within an interdisciplinary team, working in a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the mission of a life without cancer.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Biology, Biomedicine, Veterinary Medicine, Human Medicine, or a related field; a PhD/Doctorate is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Professional experience in project work, coordination, or organization is preferred
  • Experience in a scientific or research-related environment
  • Experience with digital tools, databases, or e-Learning platforms (e.g., Moodle) is an advantage
  • Background in biology, biomedicine, or human/veterinary medicine
