Job Summary

As a Senior Applied Scientist within the Partner Tech team, you will serve as a key driver for Zalando's growth by refining an industry-leading demand forecast engine. Your daily responsibilities involve the entire development lifecycle of algorithms—from conceptualization and prototyping to productionizing state-of-the-art solutions. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to design advanced experimentation frameworks, measure causal impacts, and optimize marketing investments. A significant portion of the role involves building sophisticated model pipelines and mentoring junior scientists to foster a culture of continuous learning. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or PhD in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline.

Experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience in developing forecasting models (3+ years if holding a PhD)
  • Professional experience using both statistical methods and machine learning techniques for forecasting
  • Proven track record in the full development cycle of algorithms from discovery to production
  • Experience in building model pipelines and streamlining analysis processes
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding junior colleagues and organizing educational initiatives
  • Experience communicating technical results to non-technical stakeholders
