Job Summary

The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) is seeking a Research Scientist specializing in Geotechnical Model Calculation. This role involves developing and validating models for geotechnical problems, focusing on the operational and long-term safety of underground facilities, particularly in salt and clay rock repositories. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing and executing THM model calculations, developing Digital Twins for integrating geoscientific exploration with model-based analyses, and advancing finite element program systems. The successful candidate will also provide expert advice to national and international bodies on geomechanical issues and produce scientific publications. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical geological safety assessments within a federal advisory institution, working on complex numerical simulations and cutting-edge digital twin technology.
