Job Summary

The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) is seeking a Technical Employee to support the experimental characterization of thermal-hydraulic-mechanical (THM) properties of geotechnical barrier materials, such as salt grit and bentonite, essential for radioactive waste disposal projects in Germany. This role is highly practical and laboratory-focused, requiring the operation of testing machines (e.g., triaxial testing machines), meticulous technical documentation, and the computer-aided evaluation of test results to create diagrams and reports. The ideal candidate holds a technical qualification in fields like measurement technology, mining technology, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering, and possesses knowledge in mechanics, hydraulics, or control engineering. This position offers a chance to contribute to critical national infrastructure projects, including the continuous development and maintenance of innovative measurement and testing devices, like those used for Digital Image Correlation, ensuring high application relevance.
