Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institut
Job Summary
This 24-month Postdoctoral position at the Thünen Institute of Biodiversity in Braunschweig focuses on the 'MonVia' project, which monitors biodiversity in agricultural landscapes. The successful candidate will evaluate environmental DNA (eDNA) methods for monitoring cavity-nesting wild bees and their floral resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include processing high-throughput sequencing data, managing bioinformatics workflows on Linux servers, and analyzing spatial patterns of bee diversity using multivariate statistics. You will also support the integration of molecular methods into bumblebee monitoring modules and evaluate eDNA applications within Citizen Science contexts. This role is highly collaborative, requiring the publication of research findings and the presentation of data to scientific communities, government agencies, and the public. It offers a unique opportunity to work at a federal research institute at the intersection of policy and environmental science, providing a structured environment for academic qualification and professional development within a multidisciplinary team.
