Job Summary

As a Senior SIEM Engineer at the Security Operations Center (SOC), you will be responsible for the strategic planning, configuration, and optimization of security monitoring systems for a major public institution. Your daily tasks include designing and implementing complex security use cases, onboarding new data sources, and ensuring data quality across security platforms. You will play a pivotal role in platform transitions, conducting Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and integrating SOC systems with ticketing tools and log sources via APIs. This position offers a high degree of creative freedom, ranging from system administration to software development within a motivated team of security professionals. The role is unique for its stability within the public sector (TV EntgO-DRV/A12) while working on cutting-edge cybersecurity infrastructure. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes and documentation, ensuring the organization remains resilient against evolving IT security threats.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in IT, or an equivalent qualification through IT-specific training and relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Several years of practical professional experience in setting up one or more security platforms such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, EDR, or SOAR
  • Professional experience in data center infrastructure and operating systems (Linux/Windows)
  • Experience with container environments and network protocols
  • Experience in integrating security systems via APIs and other interfaces
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing security use cases and SOC processes

Additional

  • Must be able to pass a security clearance check according to the Security Check Act (§ 9 SÜG). Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and occasional domestic travel is required. Location: Würzburg or Berlin.
