Job Summary

As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing and evolving the core infrastructure services for the German Pension Insurance's data centers in Berlin and Würzburg. Your daily responsibilities include the administration of Active Directory, DNS, and NTP, alongside monitoring, logging, and load balancing. You will drive automation using modern DevOps tools like Ansible, Git, and Artifactory to ensure stable and secure operations. The role involves performing first and second-level support, analyzing complex malfunctions, and contributing to disaster recovery and emergency planning. You will also support application migrations to the data center and participate in KRITIS security audits. This position is unique for its blend of traditional infrastructure management and modern automation practices within a large-scale, public-sector environment, offering long-term stability and the chance to shape essential national IT services.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Diploma) in IT, completed vocational training in IT, or equivalent professional qualification through several years of relevant practical experience.

Experience

  • Several years of current and in-depth professional experience in a relevant IT environment
  • Practical experience in data center core infrastructure
  • Experience in at least two core areas such as Active Directory, Monitoring, or Load Balancing
  • Professional experience in automation and network architectures
  • Experience in agile work environments and project collaboration is preferred
  • Experience in creating operational manuals and emergency restart plans

Additional

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations (phone/SMS) and occasional weekend shifts; regular monthly business travel between Berlin and Würzburg required; must pass a security clearance check according to the Security Check Act (§ 9 SÜG); high physical presence required during the initial onboarding phase.
