Job Summary

This role involves working at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in the field of clay mineral and sediment analysis. On a day-to-day basis, the successful candidate will determine cation exchange capacity, perform aqueous extractions, and conduct liquid analysis using ion chromatography. Responsibilities also include grain size analysis, preparing spray-drying samples for X-ray diffraction, and handling claystone samples within a glovebox environment. The position is unique as it offers the opportunity to work for a central federal advisory institution, contributing to geoscientific research and government consulting. The role combines hands-on laboratory work, such as scanning electron microscopy, with administrative support for laboratory management. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician (Chemielaborant) or Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA).

Experience

  • Professional experience with analytical laboratory procedures and data evaluation
  • Practical experience in the solid-state analysis of clays or soils
  • Experience in coordinating complex laboratory workflows
  • Preferred: Professional experience within a federal authority or research institution
  • Experience in laboratory management and ordering supplies
