Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Cologne District Government's Upper Water Authority in implementing the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). As a Technical Officer, you will contribute to creating action programs and management plans, provide expert advice to project sponsors on ecological continuity and water quality, and evaluate technical planning documents for water law permit procedures. You will also perform water supervision tasks and maintain specialized databases. The position is ideal for environmental professionals who want to make a tangible impact on regional water management and ecology. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma from a university in Civil Engineering, Water Management, Geoecology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Limnology, Geography, Landscape Ecology, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in water management and the implementation of the Water Framework Directive
  • Experience in aquatic ecology, water quality, and establishing ecological continuity in watercourses
  • Experience in evaluating technical planning documents and creating expert statements for legal procedures
  • Experience in using GIS and web-based information systems
  • Proven ability in interdisciplinary cooperation and independent project work
