Job Summary

This role is based at the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) in Hilden, within the newly established Configuration and Distribution Center (KuD). As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of hardware, including the installation of base software configurations, the development of automation for software deployment, and the optimization of update processes for international IT operations. You will handle a diverse range of hardware such as computers, telecommunications systems, and switches, while also managing cryptographic resources and procurement processes. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy a mix of technical configuration and logistics. It offers a permanent civil service or public sector contract (EG 9b TVöD) and the unique opportunity to actively shape the operational processes of a brand-new organizational unit. The role requires a high degree of teamwork, a solution-oriented mindset, and the willingness to support emergency response operations when necessary.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training (minimum 3 years) in the field of IT (e.g., IT Systems, IT Integration, Application Development) or an equivalent 3-year vocational degree combined with relevant IT experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in IT if holding a non-IT vocational degree
  • Professional experience in software installation and base configuration for various end devices
  • Experience in creating and developing installation images
  • Experience in managing and configuring hardware components including network switches and TK systems
  • Experience in process optimization for software updates and distribution

  • Must pass a security clearance check according to the Security Check Act (SÜG). Willingness to travel occasionally. Willingness to work outside standard hours during emergencies. Must be willing to wear service/mission clothing on specific occasions. Location: Hilden, Germany.
