Job Summary

This role is based at the Werner Siemens Chair of Synthetic Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as part of the Novopro project. The successful candidate will focus on developing and optimizing expression systems in E. coli for enzyme production, specifically targeting toxic or difficult enzymes using both cell-based and cell-free systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include establishing expression platforms, conducting high-throughput screenings of large enzyme libraries, and utilizing microfluidic systems for ultra-high-throughput methods. The position involves a mix of wet-lab work, such as molecular genetic and biochemical tasks, and instrumental analytics like HPLC and FPLC. A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art international research environment, guiding Bachelor and Master students while collaborating closely with academic and industrial partners to convert biogenic waste into valuable materials. The position is remunerated according to TV-L E13 and offers a fixed-term contract until the end of 2027.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering or natural science field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in bioinformatics, microbiology, molecular genetics, and biochemistry
  • Proven experience in the cultivation of microorganisms and transformation processes
  • Experience in molecular genetic and biochemical laboratory work
  • Experience in reporting and communication with project partners
  • Experience in supervising or guiding students (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) is preferred
