Job Summary

This one-year fixed-term position is for a Research Scientist focused on Synthetic Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in the isolation, characterization, and optimization of enzymes and microorganisms to produce industrial platform chemicals, particularly converting biogenic residues into valuable materials. Day-to-day responsibilities include extensive micro/molecular biological and biochemical laboratory work, such as cultivating microorganisms, cloning, protein expression, purification, and characterization. A critical component of the role involves developing high-throughput screening methods and automated procedures utilizing pipetting robots and microdroplet screening platforms. The successful candidate will also be responsible for programming these robots and analyzing high-throughput data using Python. This role requires a completed PhD in a relevant engineering or natural science discipline, significant experience in laboratory automation and molecular biology, and fluency in both German and English, offering a highly modern and international work environment.
