Job Summary
This role involves joining the IT Engineering and Middleware department of the North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) State Police in Duisburg. As a Database Specialist, you will be responsible for the conception, standardization, and implementation of large-scale database infrastructures across the state. Your daily activities will include managing PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Oracle systems, conducting proof-of-concepts for database migrations, and providing 3rd-level support for complex troubleshooting and performance tuning. You will play a critical role in internal security by ensuring the reliability of police IT systems. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; OR technical vocational training with further qualification as a State-Certified Technician or Operative Professional.
Experience
- 3-6 years of relevant professional experience in IT or database management, depending on educational background
- Professional experience in the design and implementation of large-scale IT infrastructures
- Experience in database migration and proof-of-concept development
- Proven track record in troubleshooting and performance optimization of database systems
- Experience in interface management and technical requirement implementation

Additional
- Must be eligible for and willing to undergo an extended security clearance (SÜ 2), which requires residency in Germany or an EU member state for at least the last five years. Location: Duisburg, Germany.
