Job Summary

The Ecological Networks Lab (EcoNetLab) at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) is seeking a dedicated IT Specialist to support pioneering ecological research. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and maintenance of modern laboratory and IT systems, including camera sensors, climate controls, and server infrastructure. You will develop software solutions for automated laboratory control and process large volumes of image and video data, including the implementation of AI-supported analysis software. This position offers the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between scientific inquiry and technical execution within a highly collaborative, international environment. You will work closely with researchers to translate ecological questions into technical solutions, providing training and technical consultancy to the team. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or FH Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, equivalent long-term professional experience with a focus on software development.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development or a related technical field
  • Experience in the development and optimization of automated control software
  • Experience in building and conducting ecological experiments is preferred
  • Technical knowledge in the application of automated camera systems is desirable
  • Experience in implementing AI-supported evaluation software
