Job Summary

This role involves the development, operation, and expansion of the bwCloud OS OpenStack environment at the University of Mannheim. As part of the 'bwCloud 3' project, you will be responsible for designing and developing network and storage infrastructure, as well as virtualization environments. Your day-to-day tasks include implementing test and integration environments for updating OpenStack components and utilizing tools such as ColdFront, Django, and Python. Beyond technical administration, you will act as a consultant for researchers and educators, supporting them in scientific computing and the integration of cloud services into their teaching. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a leading German university's IT department, providing a meaningful contribution to the scientific community. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's or Diploma) with a strong focus on Computer Science or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in web development using Python and Django
  • Professional experience in Linux administration with a focus on server virtualization
  • Experience in developing and operating OpenStack environments is preferred
  • Experience in designing network and storage infrastructures
