Job Summary

This role involves working at the Technical University of Munich's Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) research neutron source, one of the world's most advanced facilities. As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will lead research focused on understanding and optimizing electrolytes for high-energy lithium-ion batteries. Your daily activities will include using sophisticated analytical methods such as neutron and X-ray diffraction, neutron depth profiling, and electrochemical characterization (half-cells) to study cathode structures and electrode behaviors. You will collaborate within a prestigious consortium including partners like BASF, VARTA, and STIHL. This position is ideal for a dedicated researcher who enjoys interdisciplinary work and wants to utilize high-end laboratory equipment, including specialized battery characterization tools. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma/M.Sc.) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Crystallography, including a PhD (Promotion).

Experience

  • Professional experience in battery electrochemistry
  • Extensive experience in diffraction methods and Rietveld analysis
  • Experience in project management within a scientific or technical context
  • Proven track record in interdisciplinary scientific collaboration
  • Experience with neutron scattering or small-angle scattering (SANS/SAXS) is highly desirable
