Job Summary

This role offers a unique entry point into Munich's vibrant start-up ecosystem as part of the TUM Venture Labs, a joint initiative between the Technical University of Munich and UnternehmerTUM. As a Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for organizing and leading high-performance laboratory infrastructure specifically designed for chemistry-focused start-ups. Your day-to-day will involve enforcing safety protocols, managing equipment procurement, and providing strategic advice to founding teams on project development and financing. You will act as a bridge between academic research and commercial scalability, helping to transform innovative chemical ideas into products with real-world impact. This position is ideal for those who enjoy community building, as you will foster networks between researchers, established companies, and investors. The role is initially limited to two years and offers a dynamic, 'start-up like' working environment within Europe's leading sciencepreneurship hub, providing direct access to the next generation of technology unicorns.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable natural science field (PhD is considered advantageous).

Experience

  • Professional experience working in and meeting the requirements of chemical laboratories
  • Experience in laboratory safety and safety management systems
  • Proven experience in project management and organizational leadership
  • Initial experience in entrepreneurship or a start-up environment is preferred
  • Experience in supporting or advising scientific teams and young talents
