Job Summary

The Center for Quantum Engineering (ZQE) at the Technical University of Munich is seeking a Technical Assistant to support material preparation and characterization within the field of quantum sciences. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical maintenance and operation of high-end research equipment, including precision cutting machines, grinding/polishing systems, light microscopes, X-ray systems, and cryostats. Your daily tasks involve preparing solid crystals and thin-film samples, performing metallurgical characterizations, and assisting with laboratory processes such as ultrasonic cleaning, wire bonding, and soldering. Additionally, you will provide technical instruction to students and researchers and support data evaluation. Experience

  • Experience handling X-ray systems or cryostats
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory or lab-related environment
  • Experience handling small, delicate, and high-value workpieces
  • Experience in the maintenance of scientific instruments is preferred
