Job Summary

This full-time role at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) involves supporting research on emerging animal diseases at the Greifswald – Insel Riems headquarters. As a Biological Laboratory Technician or Technical Assistant, you will perform daily cell culture work and apply a variety of molecular biological, biochemical, and serological methods, including PCR, cloning, ELISA, and Western Blotting. You will also assist in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins and analyze sample material from animal trials and field studies. This position is unique for its location at a world-leading research institute and offers the opportunity to work in a high-security laboratory environment (BSL). The role is fixed-term until December 31, 2026, as a parental leave replacement, offering competitive public service benefits (TVöD) and a highly collaborative, international scientific atmosphere.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician, Biology Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biological, biochemical, and serological laboratory methods
  • Practical experience with cell culture work
  • Experience in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins
  • Experience processing and analyzing samples from animal trials or field studies
